Kick the Winter Blues with Exercise

This time of the year can be tough. The holiday festivities are long gone and the spring blossoms are still nowhere in sight. The cold weather has officially gotten to us and we find ourselves lazier than ever. We lose the desire to workout, eat well and binge watch our favorite shows a little too much. We’ve decided to fight back against the winter blues with our list of instant mood-boosters! Channel your fun self again with these tips:

  1. Love Winter Again!

There are so many amazing activities we forget to enjoy in the cold. A cliché cozy evening of a good book and a cup of hot cocoa by the fire is something we all need to try. Kick it up a notch with some new comfy pajamas! We only get to bundle up during this time of year so enjoy it before the hot sun sends you outside to play! Outdoor winter activities are also a great way to embrace winter and fight those blues. Get out and hit the slopes! Whether you love to ski, snowboard, or ice skate, head into the cold and enjoy all of winter’s wonders! Or just enjoy a laid-back snow day with family and friends! Snow days are epic, don’t miss out!

  1. Get More Light!

We all get locked up in our offices or houses during the cold months, but it’s important to get light.  This not only brightens up our mood but also helps with our all-around mental health! Can’t get any natural sunlight? No worries! Try out an artificial light or light box to get the rays you are craving.

  1. Socialize!

This winter, get less screen time and more face time! Going out with friends is not only fun, but can also relieve stress! Spending time with our loved ones is key to happiness and living life to the fullest, no matter what season it is! Whether you host a girls’ night in with a romantic comedy or go out for a night of singing at a karaoke bar, make the effort to get your besties together for a good time!

  1. Exercise

Winter bod is a real thing. Daylight-savings time ends and so does our motivation to go outside for a run.  Change up your routine with mood-boosting indoor workouts! Try an upbeat cycle class or a relaxing yoga class, but just make sure to get moving! Fitness is vital for feeling great throughout the year!

  1. Meditation

Between the cold weather and the early darkness, its’s easy to let ourselves slide into the negative zone. We let our energy go from high to low, but it’s time to shift it back up! Take a moment to meditate. Focus your energy on all the things you are grateful for. Focusing on what we have will help boost our mood.

It’s time to say goodbye to the winter blues! With these changes to your daily routine, you’ll enjoy this magical season to the fullest!
